It had been a weight on shoulders for the longest time, after all. She has this youthful energy, but the looks of a gorgeous young woman. Not to mention her outfit- a pastel yellow halter top, short jean shorts, and a sky blue scrunchie- looks magnificent. Mike claimed shotgun earlier. They run out to the car and squish in the trunk. He just kind of… froze? It was so awkward.
The timing was never right, and that- that happens. A lush plant, obviously made of silicon, is the centerpiece of every table. Unfortunately, Ben asks the hostess to take it away so he can see everyone. Being directly across from her, he can watch and judge the girl the entire dinner.
She tries her hardest the whole meal not to pay Bill any mind, but it gets difficult when he starts getting tipsy. And drunk Bill can be wild. Singing and dancing on the tables wild. The waitress must have a crush on him or something. She starts walking to the bathroom, Bill hot on her heels. He kisses her full on the mouth. Using someone would hurt her in such an inexplicable way, and not to mention it would tear whatever small bond she had with Bill into shreds.
She plops back down in her seat, barely touching the rest of her food or speaking for the rest of the night. Usually she has a remark or at least a glare for him, but she seems almost meek today.
He pulls Beverly aside at one point, and asks if he did anything to her last night. He spends the rest of the day trying to remember something- anything- from last night. There are some vignettes. Watching her ass as she walked to the bathrooms. Oh, shit. Bill made some sort of comments about those shorts. What happened after that? But why would that make her sad?
His friends come bounding down the stairs, all wearing sneakers and athletic outfits. One of us is g-g-going to st-stay with her instead of h-having fun? And you won! You get to! Also, they know that the two have feelings that have been expressed so wrongly over the years. He decides to hang out by the pool for a while, and changes into his swim trunks.
And I-I remember kissing y-you. But then what? I know you remember what I told you yesterday in the kitchen. And what you told me at the restaurant really hurt, okay? Could he actually mean that? Has he been drinking again? Hearing that from Bill Denbrough has been her dream since… forever. He tucks a piece of hair behind her ear and kisses her tenderly, gently.
I feel like doing something crazy now, something outrageous. Grinning, she begins to peel off her one piece. She slips the straps off, and the rest slowly slides off her body. Her breasts are exposed first, then her stomach, then everything. Her skin is smooth and glorious.
Bill pulls off his swim trunks and throws them behind him. They bask in the beauty of each other for a moment before they dive into the water, crisp and cool on their bare bodies. He carries her all the way to the deep end and tosses her in. He cannonballs in, and they swim around, and eventually go under the waterfall. They end up making out and gasping for air. She nods, and they get out. Grabbing his hand, she pulls him through the sliding glass doors.
They run around the house in nothing but towels, giggling and kissing and dripping pool water everywhere. She obeys and lets him kiss her knees, her thighs, and eventually her core.
When she finishes, Bill holds her for a minute so she can catch her breath. Then, when he turns around to put on a condom, she moves against the wall. Their tongues clash, and she loves every second of it. Then he goes in. He starts slow at first, but begins to pick up the pace with her approval.
He listens to her, and almost screams in pleasure when she starts to suck on his neck. She lies in his arms, back on the bed, and traces the love mark forming on his neck. The wait was unbearable, but incredibly worth it. Bill presses a kiss to her forehead. The timing is finally, after all these years, perfect. Warnings: drunk!
Also I indirectly made this modern so they got phones and shittttt. It all started with a bottle of tequila that Bev had snuck from her father. You were slightly passed tipsy, not quite drunk, but you could tell that Eddie was beyond salvageable. Stan lightly tapped his fingers along your shoulders, catching your attention. You took out your phone, googling how to you could do a stick and poke for Stan.
He could tell you were a little drunk, so he was going to take this very cautiously. You looked over at Eddie, noticing him staring at you and Stan. You looked down at your wrist, sighing as you examined it. Bev took another swig of the tequila she was nursing as Ben held her in his lap, his eyes shut and soft snores leaving his lips.
After that exchange, everyone focused their attention to the weird, indie movie that was playing on the TV. Mike came in silently, handing you the bag as well as a bag of your favorite chips. You dumped everything out of the plastic bag, taking out the sanitary wipes. You walked back over the Stan, noticing that he was rather anxious. He hissed, leaning further into Eddie to which Eddie almost gagged at the stench of tequila that had been wafting off of Stan for the past hour.
After a few more pokes, you noticed blood starting to prickle up on the surface of his arm, and you quickly grabbed a paper towel, dabbing it away gently so that you could continue drawing it. Thirty seconds later, you removed it to see the ink had gotten a bit faint, but the design had still stayed.
He lifted his head up and looked down at the tattoo, smiling softly. He shook his head, admiring it. You smiled up at Eddie, watching him move into the seat Stan was just in. You grabbed another wipe, cleaning yourself then getting one for his arm, and then you grabbed a second needle.
You tried to keep it kinda small, just in case he regretted it in the morning. You finished, dabbing it off with a clean paper towel. He smiled down at it, looking back up at you with droopy eyes and red cheeks. Your mind was slightly hazy so you nodded. You hissed in pain. Calm down. After what felt like hours, he pulled away with a soft smile.
You looked down at your wrist and saw and beautiful outline of a monarch butterfly, wings spread out. He tossed all three needles in the trash while you rushed out to show the rest of the guys your tattoo.
You shook your head, smiling back at the kitchen to see Eddie coming out after his cleanup of the counter. Stan zoomed into the kitchen, the water being heard immediately. You walked in after him, nudging him to the side so you could share the sink. You rolled your eyes and shoved him as you dabbed off your tattoo, seeing it faded a bit, but it still looked just as pretty as it did when it was first done.
You shut off the water, walking out of the kitchen behind Stanley. You shrugged your shoulders and looked up at him. When I started this one I figured it would be easier since I can riddle as bi and ace and this is all non-sexual but my god was it difficult. It's hard to separate what i'd like from a partner like riddler from what this version of riddler would actually be like. I've done my best but if you have anything you'd like to add, feel free to hmu!
Edward can be affectionate in quite a superficial way. Although unless you were head over heels for him, his faux sincerity would be pretty obvious. I can see him spending a lot of money on you as a gesture of affection; fancy food , clothes, first editions of your favorite books or vintage versions of whatever you collect. How would the friendship start? Like most things, Edward treats friendship as just another tool in the bag, he can count the people he actually gives a shit about on 1 hand.
If you were lucky or unlucky depending on your view to be considered one of those friends, expect lots of phone calls about bailing him out, riddles turning up in weird places like in the pocket of a coat you haven't worn in a while and him helping you out with your cerebral challenges like your quarterly tax return, no eddie i can't just NOT do it will you put down the rubix cube and help me. Now there's a few caveats to this; his rules and on his terms etc.
He likes to lie between your legs with his head on your chest, either facing you for a hug while he naps or away from you, using you like a pillow while he reads or tinkers with something. He likes having his hair played with and his back gently stroked until he falls asleep.
He keeps up the facade of being totally touch adversed for good reason, the other rouges just do not respect personal space, even ones like killer croc and clayface. For the sake of his suits, he keeps this up even in private. But if you were someone special to him, you might convince him to toss his arm around your shoulder or waist.
Or at least, looking like he takes good care of himself. He can cook and clean a little but he has the cash to pay other people to do the more menial or time consuming stuff for him. These days he's more focused on other things to be bothered with domestic chores, his place is very messy.
Expect him to turn his nose up at the prospect of marriage but a platonic long term partner, someone for company, someone to act as a sounding board for ideas or even just someone to gently but firmly kick his ass into looking after himself would be pretty ideal.
Like weeks if not months in advance. He doesn't deal well with sudden changes to his routine, particularly with no plans ahead. On the other hand he might just pussy out and ghost you. If it was your doing, well.
Edward takes these sorts of things as a challenge. He might even assume you were joking the first time around. He might try to change or at the very least , be better at hiding whatever it was that you want to break it off.
Failing that expect a lot of texts from blocked numbers almost but not quite begging or apologizing and asking for more chances. How quick would they want to get married? Like I said above, marriage isn't for him. I doubt he'd be compatible with a religious person given his childhood and outspoken atheism. No papers, no ceremony, just something small. If you proposed expect him to be flustered and , if you can believe it, at a loss for words.
He might go radio silent on you for a few days before giving you an answer but i honestly couldn't tell you what it might be. Some sort of Commitment appeals to him from a practical point; having someone to rely on, to fall back on and to care and be cared for by. Edward isn't an imposing man. He's broken a lot of plates, computer monitors and mechanical pencils over the years. He lacks a lot of social grace to treat things with the necessary amount of sensitivity sometimes, but he has the sense to at least TRY and be emotionally gentle.
Situations of abuse or self worth issues, things he has personal experience dealing with are things he can easily empathise with. Short story, yes but only coming from a trusted partner. Long story is that he has a hard time not flinching when someone hugs him by surprise.
You should ask before you do it. Edward is the kind of person to fall head over heels very quickly. He might say I love you before it's socially appropriate, it honestly might make you a little uncomfortable. But once that initial infatuation dies he's a lot more guarded with his feelings.
If you look up jealousy in the dictionary, you'd see Edward's picture. You need to nip any signs of jealousy in your relationship in the bud early on. Otherwise Edward will become controlling, manipulative and possessive to the point of alienating you from other people, simply for the sake of having you to himself. You need to set healthy boundaries while also doing your best to accommodate his need to be validated and his need for reassurance that you do in fact want to be with him.
He has temper tantrums like a child if you don't agree with him. Like for example if he thinks someone was flirting with you and you tell him they were just being friendly.
All that said, I genuinely don't think he does it for the sake of being a controlling partner. He is just so very afraid that someone he actually gives a shit about will leave him like everyone else in his life.
Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed? I should point out that he doesn't kiss often. What he lacks in experience he makes up for in enthusiasm. He is a very sloppy kisser when he gets into it but generally his kisses are very short and chaste. Like i said, he doesn't really know what he's doing so he's all over the place in terms of location.
I think smooches on the cheek because it's easy access, for him and you. He likes body worship, so if you're kissing him, anywhere will do as long as you're praising that part while you do it.
Childrens naturally inquisitive nature coupled with his bright and colourful appearance makes for some entertaining moments but in the long run I can see him worrying too much: about screwing the kid up, about being perceived like his father, about the child not meeting his expectations etc.
He's more of a night owl tbh. If you're living with him he might wander into the kitchen while you're getting breakfast , wondering why you're up so late. He might have coffee with you and talk about what he was working on, maybe ask if he could have some breakfast with you.
Edward prefers to work and operate at night so expect him to be in a flurry of activity, building things, calling people and working at his computer. He likes to have company, even if you aren't doing much talking. It would be nice for him to just spend time with you while you both work on your respective projects.
Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly? Edward has a bad habit of gloating about his accomplishments but in a way that is so obviously false it unintentionally tells more about him than he really wanted to.
He gets upset quite easily, he has very limited patience. But for stupid people, and people outright insulting him, dismissing him or for acting like batman he is liable to start seeing red very quickly. In your relationship I would say he is easily irritated by a lot of things, generally a bit grumpy if things don't go his way but rarely as angry as we see him in the climax of Arkham knight. He doesn't yell or shout at you but he will seethe and let his anger fester for days at a time.
Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything? You would think for someone with a photographic memory, he would be better at remembering things about you.
Yes, he will remember everything about you but he puts it in the back of his head so he can focus on other things. Don't be surprised if he lets important dates slip by or does things at the last minute because something reminded him of it.
It's probably something innocuous that you wouldn't think of, or even realise he was there for. Maybe he remembers meeting you in a coffee shop months or years before you met and started dating. He remembers because you held the door for him or gave him a genuine smile.
You were something colourful in his gray day, something hard to forget. I doubt he tried to build a relationship out of that one moment but when he met you again he would remember that and decide that it was fate or something. How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected? Edward is protective in a strange way.
He has more power in the digital world so that's where he feels most comfortable looking out for you. He might watch you on security cameras to make sure you get home safe, send you texts to check in or hide your profile from the police. You can be online together and in the public eye for him to brag about you to his online followers of course.
Edward needs to be protected in a lot of ways, mostly from himself. His big mouth gets him into a lot of bother so he might need you to act as a social filter. He needs to be grounded and kept in the present lest he get wrapped up in his thoughts. He doesn't really try. Someday it's going to blow up in his face big time but he doesn't seem to care.
Same goes for everyday tasks. He's usually so focused on his own stuff that he doesn't realise other things need done. He's a master of doing things at the last second and still making it look like he put in effort. He has a bad habit of underestimating people, even you. He might be inclined to patronise you when you try to do things for him but just showing him that you are a capable human being is usually enough to shut him up. He's very egocentric, narcissistic and conceited, but given everything he's been through, it's not really his fault he's like this.
What is his doing is his refusal to work on his faults or try to grow as a person. Perhaps with the right encouragement you could help him but don't hold your breath.
Normally yes, Edward is narcissistic and very concerned with his looks but recently, with his mental health declining, he's forgotten to take care of himself. Edward is and always has been convinced he was meant to be alone. But meeting you? Well that changes things. Edward will never be a complete, well rounded person but having someone to kiss his wounds and pour their love into the cracks in his being is infinitely better than being alone.
I mentioned in some of my mini headcanons for him that he used to do gymnastics as a kid. It wasn't so much that he wanted to or even enjoyed it all that much, in his highschool you just had to pick a sport and it was one of the only things that wasnt team related and had the lowest chance of being hit in the head with a ball, bat or racket.
He was pretty good at it, even if he didnt like it that much , and probably could have taken home some bronze or silver awards in his state if his parents had encouraged him. Nowadays he can barely do a pullup but he's still got most of the flexibility, even if repeated breaks at the hands of batman have left him a little sore while he does it. Edward doesn't like people appearing to be smarter than him. If he knew you were an alcoholic he likely never would have started dating you but even the odd drink will make him turn his nose up.
Edward is a chronic insomniac but there is one thing that is guaranteed to send him right to the land of nod and that is having his hair played with and his back stroked.
I don't know if it was one of the few kind touches he ever received as a child or if his parents did it when he was a baby but it's one of the few things that makes him feel truly safe and cared for. Riddler has spent the majority of his life alone, so finding a partner he trusts enough to allow them not only into his space but also his bed would be a difficult thing. If that's you, however, expect him to be badgering you every night to help him get to sleep. Maddie could have died two years ago, she could have died and their baby did because of him.
Only, he had gotten away with a concussion and Maddie, who was three months pregnant at the time, had lost their baby and had been rushed to emergency surgery. Her heart had stopped twice and it had taken months for her to recover. And after forty-eight hours, he was fine. Physically, he was absolutely fine, and how was that fair?
How was that right? Maddie had left three days ago, just packed their bags and left without a word. And yet, there he is, staring in front of him at an almost empty bottle and wondering how it all went so wrong. But life seemed to be a never-ending pit of darkness since then. And then when he finally felt somewhat ready to go back to work, Mr Lee died.
And then three months ago, his partner, the one that had replaced Hen over a year ago when she embarked on her new journey, had been arrested for attempted murder of his wife. And suddenly he was right back to where he had been almost seven years before, with Jason Bailey standing in front of him and him being fooled. He had worked with that man for over a year, had introduced him to Maddie and he had no clue what he was capable of behind closed doors.
Pathetic, stupid… how his wife had even managed to stick by his side for so long is beyond him. He was alone. He was finally alone and that was everything he had thought he deserved and not at all what he wanted.
Nothing has really felt the same since he walked into the house and found it empty. She had begged and begged him for months, told him they would be able to afford the best rehab with the best help for him so he could be the dad their kids deserved again, so he could be her husband again.
You deserve better than this. You did not go through everything—you did not almost die twice to end up drowning your sorrows in a bottle every single day. Ok so I've got a few that I'm curious about but seriously feel free to pick like 1 or ignore me completely I won't be offended lol.
Oh wow, LOL. I honestly respect the fans of this ship, I get wanting a happy ending for them both, but personally? I just think it makes better sense that the two of them go their separate ways.
Idk, let it go, maybe? I probably like this MOST in the cartoon. I do feel, given the chance, Raven and Terra have a lot more in common than not, and to be If Raven was ever upset with Terra, it was because she betrayed her trust and her friends when she considered her a friend, not because she was jealous of her romance with Gar.
Anyways, glad it was retconned, and that Wally found Emiko instead which has been a slow burn and written infinitely better than whatever the fuck Percy thought he was doing.
But honestly? There were some pretty tender moments with these 3 as a family poly unit. The fans have honestly kept this thing alive, and are probably the only reason I enjoy it at all in more of a non canon scenario.

Only one or two not for me. Once again, my sincere thanks for many wonderful hours with my head in one of your books. I've been looking forward to Someone to Cherish for months now and of course I've finished reading the book in one go only so that I can reread it in a more leisurly way again. It's all I've hoped for and more, a heartwarming story of two wounded people who learn to trust their feelings and each other and thus come into their own.
What delights me even more is the fact that I can follow the lives of all the other characters of the series, the way they grow and flourish! Seeing Winifred turn into a lovely young woman who knows her mind makes me glad that you decided to give her her own story.
And when at the ball Lydia's father was standing next to Louise, the Dowager Duchess of Netherby I thought they might make an interesting couple. Well, I'll see. Right now I'm content to enjoy Someone to Cherish and several of my other favourites -again - and are looking forward to Estelle's story with the dark and dour Earl of Brandon - I'm sure theirs will be a riveting story as well.
Thank you once again for the many many enjoyable hours you've given me with your books and please, please keep on writing! Deeply grateful, your avid reader Ingrid. Now I know why I am such a fan of your facebook puns and am always reposting them--I was born on March 25, If the zodiac has anything to do with kindred spirits Keep up the great work and thanks for making me laugh every day. I guess I will start by saying that I found your books quite by accident about two months ago and you have succeeded in stealing my heart!
I have been obsessed ever since I finished the first book I came across, which was Slightly Wicked. I have since read most of the Simply series and a couple of the Someone to series as well. Your stories touch me in a way that I haven't found in years!
I've been reading romance and writing my own stories since I was a teenager. It's a true passion for me, I would go as far to say it's a large part of who I am as a whole. I would just like to say, Thank you!
Thank you for giving us; your readers, these beautiful stories filled with such emotion and passion. I'm undeniably in love and look forward to reading everything you have done and more. I read everyone I can get my hands on. Keep on writing so I can read more! Dear Mary I read as many of them as I can but realize that there are some I haven't because of the printing and that makes me sad but I may try as I do love your books.
I am just so fascinated with how you come up with all the names the relationships I sometimes can't remember my own name at times Mary A. I love, love your books. Cant say in words how they make me feel. I start reading and immerse myself in the characters and the story.
I feel I am there with them, living their life, feeling what they are feeling.. Right now I'm reading Longing. Absolutely fabulous! Thank you so much for your beautiful stories I always buy your books from Amazon ebooks but cannot buy the simply series or the Bedwyn series ,I have just re-read both series in book form for the fifth time. I really love to read them over and over again ,but it is becoming harder as I have arthritic hands.
Please have them available to Amazon ebooks u. They are just so fabulous,as are all your books. Sorry to get technical because it's a lovely site, and yours are wonderful books but you should ask your web developers to change the links for Amazon, etc. That way, when I want to pre-order A Daring Masquerade which I did , I still have your website up on its own tab to return to. As it was, I had to back out of Amazon and you know how grabby that site can be.
I just finished "A Christmas Bride" and wanted to say that this is truly one of the most wonderful and heartwarming love stories I have ever read!! I LOVE it so very much! Thank you for writing it!! Hello Mary, you came to me through a Facebook ad which caught my eye because my mother's maiden name is Balogh. Has your husband done any genealogy research? We have a little info but have found the Hungarian data difficult to access.
Just wondered if we must be related. You are my favorite historical romance writer. I try to get my hand on all the books you have written. I just finished reading Someone to honor and I loved it! But I am dreading to read your next Westcott book because of the hero! Charles Sawyer Is not a hero in my eyes. I hope at least you do not let Gil forgive him because it would be disrespectful to his mom! There was no closer there. He could never make things right for her and only person who can forgive him is her and she is dead!
He never suffered Much for his high handedness and he just expected Gil mom to bend to his wishes! He was a worst kind of scoundrel and Gils mom lost everything of value except for his son.
It was her right to deny him his son! I hope his son does not give in just because of few kind words! I've just reread the Bedwyn series - one of my all time favourites - although I do appreciate all your books and series - and are wondering if you ever have thought about picking up that thread again and would tell us a second generation story about Christian Bedwyn all grown up. It would give your readers a chance to see how Wulfric and Christine are doing in their sixties and might offer glimpses of the other Bedwyns and their offspring as well.
As you have mentioned in your blog Wulfric is your most popular hero and his son might follow suit. I'm certainly not the only one who would be interested. Thank you once again for many pleasurable hours of reading and enjoying your books. I sincerely hope there will be many more to come. All the best, Ingrid. Long time fan of your books. My all-time favorite is A Summer to Remember. Please say there are plans for an audio version!
I've read it many times - especially the devine ending! Thank you for many happy years of reading. Much appreciated! Thank you for sharing your creativity. I am so excited to see the books you have coming out this year Mary! I am one of those people who greatly prefer a paper book to an ebook, but I understand the physical and financial limitations of publishing. Luckily, thanks to my diligence and luck!
What a luxury to have the opportunity to purchase e-copies! The Wescott series is wonderful and I can't wait for the next installment. Thank you very much for the many hours of reading pleasure you have given us all. Mrs Balough, I have very ecclectic tastes in reading materials.
I like YA adult fantasy, historical romance, and ones that mess with your head. There are only 2 authors whose works I greatly anticipate: Stephen King and yours. Opposite ends of the rainbow right? Your stories are so easy to get involved in. I really like the involvement in the characters feelings and thoughts. I just finished "Someone to Romance". I love strong characters and Jessica and Gabriel are just that. Thank you for being you!
Terri Krieg. Just a quick thank you for giving me so many hours of reading pleasure. Oh, my pardon. I have just found the Pronunciation Guide in "Longing. I picked up Only a Promise as it sounded like an interesting book when it came out.
Well I was hooked, Since then I have read just about everything you have written. The characters, the stories, the beautiful countryside, and the history make the books come alive. My favorites are the Bedwyns and the Survivor Club. I have reread all the books several times. I was lucky enough to travel to England and amazingly to Swansea when I graduated from high school in ' My history teacher offered a trip to any students who wanted to go with him.
Well I signed up. My teacher was a Rotarian and the previous year some businessmen and farmers from Swansea had visited. When they left the said "if you are ever in Swansea look us up". My teacher did and it made a very memorable trip to spend time with the beautiful people and countryside. We also got to have a luncheon with the Rotary Club, toast the Queen, and visit with the members.
It is to this day one of my favorite memories. Thanks for giving a "farm girl" from northeastern Colorado such wonderful stories to read!! Just finished reading bk. I have so many of your books that I need a separate plastic storage container in which to store them. I am rereading the Survivors series, and l'm enjoying the books all over again. I am now reading Only a Promise Ralph and Chloe. Is that story available and where might I find it?
I love your books and am waiting impatiently until November for your next book. Being "a lady of a certain age" myself, I'm thrilled that Matilda is getting her own book!
By the way, the Someone Wescott series have many conversations and scenes that bring tears to my eyes and induce crying because of the effect on my emotions. Have read them multiple times, seeing something new each time. Can't wait for Someone Perfect. I used to donate all my books to our local library but when I started the Survivor's Club, I decided to save the series.
Keep up the exceptional work. Hi, Mary, I love your books, they are perfect. I can not wait for all your books to be released in Brazil.
You're a perfect author. Mary, I have been devouring your books, and not much else, since holiday time last year. I went through all the Westcott series in a heartbeat. Avery reminds me of the Scarlet Pimpernel and he had me at hello.
But then, I wanted the artist, Joel. The men really are so lovable, in their myriad ways. I've just finished the boarding school ladies Simply series.
I appreciate that all of your characters are flawed in some way -- even if it's just their perceived situation -- and yet they rise above with each other's help and acceptance.
Thank you for teaching me what romantic love looks and feels like, and for reminding me to believe in it. Dear Mary, Thanks for all the wonderful stories.
I've tried to read or listen to all that I could get my hands on. Love the Wescotts and Simply series but are of your books are great. Just finished someone to trust. Your novels are so lovely, filled with joy and hope. Can't thank you enough for your writing. There are a number of posts naming a favourite yes I'm English so the spelling is different! I think that is because you do not write stock characters found in so many novels set in the Regency. So, may I put in a word for Wulfric Bedwyn, Duke of Bewcastle, as a candidate; surely one of the most repressed, socially awkward heroes ever.
To create a character so unlikable on the surface and so endearing beneath without making him at all saccharin is quite an achievement. To read of him being dragged unwillingly to Mrs Derrick, while she is being dragged equally unwillingly to him kept me going through a knee operation and two subsequent wound infections. What next for the Westcott books? Perhaps you can run a competition for the next Someone to Love all your books, thank you! Mary Balogh, While I have read practically all your books I have been able to get my hands on, for some reason, I keep returning to "Unforgiven," When I first read it, I was much younger, and I was unable to understand the constant tension and friction both Kenneth and Moira had in their relationship.
Even after they got married and were thinking about making their marriage work, I didn't understand the friction. I finished reading at the time and I went back again to read it once more, I still didn't get it. Plus your masterful writing and deep exploration of hurt emotions and conflict kept me coming back to this book. I finally understand where that underlying tension and friction was from, when I read it again as I just turned I guess I'm old enough to understand why they were constantly fighting and that underneath that constant conflict, was love.
They both loved each other and had probably never stopped. It transformed the entire way I looked at that book and those characters because while I logically understood their feelings and actions, It finally clicked for me emotionally where their actions were coming from.
They were all coming from their love for each other, whether it was the resentment, the hatred, the constant fighting, it was all because they cared for each other and simply had too much pride and fear of possible hurt feelings to express that love to each other openly.
It took me years to understand that undercurrent of love, but now I do and I adore that book even more. Your books give me joy and solace. I keep coming back to them over and over again. I deeply admire your characterizations. And I want you to know that your books make a difference. There have been countless times where they have given me some bit of wisdom that I have not gleaned before. So, I'm going to selfishly ask you to keep writing.
And I can't wait for Abby's book in the westcott series. And would sincerely implore you to write Winifred's book. She is such an endearing and precious child! I would love to read about her as an adult.
I have read all of your books that are out now. I am still looking for "The Incurable Matchmaker" - the new release isn't available at Amazon yet, even though it is the end of August. I can't wait until my pre-order of "Someone to Remember" comes. I love your characters and your stories. I am wishing you Mary, your family, and my follow readers around the world happy, health and prosperous and beyond. I think it be awesome, and heart warming to read Winifred's story.
I will definitely buy some of it for friends I lost to social media, and don't read books as much as they used.
I think Winifred's book will lure them back to books. I hope, hope and hope again Mary that you don't use anywhere in Winifred's book the word, by-blow. I do not know what road your wonderfully creative brain will take to write Winifred's story, and I am sure it is going to be amassing read. Please know that I am not trying to criticize or censure your writing in any way. I just wish that there are more books which promote women and children's welfare, and who is better to do that than you?
As Delicious as reading period books are, they most Valorous about total power men have over women. Thank you for always keeping some thing great to read or reread in my shelves. Hello Mary, I hope you are well and enjoying the beginning of the Summer Solstice. We have received timely moisture as there was the threat of drought.
I had not realized this until today. The Duke of Bedwyn helped Hugo out of a sticky situation. I look forward in buying the next instalment of the Westcott series and I keep looking for your older books to add to my collection. I believe in fate, how small encounters shape our lives and destiny! Please keep writing your wonderful books and may God keep you well! Dear Mary, I've just discovered your books two months ago, and I have already red a lot of them!
Wetscott, Bedwyn Cheers from Switzerland:- Aurore. My favorite family has to be the Bedwyns, I was very saddened by the ending of the enter series. This word comes up quite frequently in your stories referring to beauty or lack of. Please enlighten me! Sincerely Shalet. Look forward to more books about this family. I just love your series books, but I have a question I'm finishing up Simply Perfect and I'd like to know your suggestion for the next series.
I totally love how you incorporate other series in your new series and would love the next best series. Thank you so much Sandi I am a real fan of your books and have read them all. As long as my library has it I shall read it again and again.
But it would be wonderful to own my own copy. I'm afraid I couldn't leave a comment on your blog. So far, i've read some of your books, and I was surprised on the good books you create.
I hope to read more from you Keep them Coming. I have your books in all the ways. Hard backed paper Backed PC and my little bookreader. Thanks for all your great stories. Mary, I just love love your books. I have almost all your books. I have read a lot of your books and enjoy them because they are both funny, often with unlikely plots like the Huxtables and the current Westcott series and at the same time serious with a lot of wisdom. Also, well-written.
Can you tell me how to pronounce your name? A friend says it ends with a long -o-, I think it ends with a soft -g-. Keep them coming! Ellie White. Sorry to say I have as yet to read any of your books. Your posts started appearing on my page recently and I liked and shared rather a lot of them. It was only after your post today that I realized you were an author.
I will definitely check out some of your books. Thank you for giving me the wonderful world of your stories. Since until recently when the pain has been unrelenting, I have disappeared into the worlds you have created. At 74 I am better and can even do some housework my husband is delighted. I have recommended to every doctor I meet that reading be prescribed to patients as an escape from pain and that a good librarian or bookseller can aid them find what they need.
There truly is a book for every reader. I wish you and yours health, happiness, and safety. I just finished Secrets of the Heart, and you asked was my writing different in my earlier books.
What I think that was missing from this book was a funny character and the laughter of your characters. I will never forget Wolf swinging from the tree for the children. Freya always made me laugh. You always had a character that made me laugh. No laughter in Secrets of the Heart. I sincerely appreciate and am touched by the wisdom that you include in your books.
In the Claudia and Joseph book my fave you have the interlude of silence and in other books as well. If you are familiar with Gangagi she would describe you as a 'secret agent' sharing the true depth of life. You reach my heart. Ma'am I love you and all your books because I have read almost all of them! You really inspire me and my writing. You are my best romance author.
I just can't get enough of them. Your first book I read years back 'Slightly Scandalous' was really an eye opener! I love your Welsh romance the best and also the Mistress series. Keep up your good work! I have enjoyed ALL of the books you have written. Such an amazing array of Characters and their stories. Regency books are my Linus blanket. Recently I have started re-reading the ones I've kept over the years.
